The 100+ Ideas Books, (The Continuum One Hundreds Series) is a fantastic series for teachers, and I'd urge any new (or teacher who wants new ideas) teacher to invest in ones that match their plans. What They Are
They're a series of books all written by different experts in their field. Each is about the size of a novel for early teens, and they're usually in a bright, solid colour. There are books for many different aspects of education.
Each book has 100 (and more) ideas for that topic. Some are for Primary Level, some Secondary, and some encompass all.
Almost all of the lessons and ideas can be adapted, so that they could suit small group activity, whole class activity, or even individual activity.
Which topics are there?

100 + Ideas for Teaching English
This is the book that I own so far (I'll be getting more). I love how it explains easy and logical ways to explain and practice the parts of a sentence without just having to underline words on a worksheet. The activities actually make sense and are progressive- they often build on each other. It creates real comprehension and understanding of how to use them ad how to recognise them.
It includes tips on how to encourage the students to write 'properly' in terms of posture and pen holding.
There's a big section on Writing, and it covers many genres and many different activities to get what you want, and many ideas for different things you might want to cover.
Reading and Understanding, Comprehension Skills, Exploring Poetry, A Focus on Plays, Non Fiction, Speaking and Listening, Thinking Skills, Drama, ICT, Boys and English and Differentiation are the different chapters.
It really encourages multiliteracies.
I highly recommend these books and soon I'll be investing in buying many of them.
